fanSHEN is committed to introducing and promoting daring international voices within the UK theatre scene.
We create work which is both dynamically physical and affectingly psychological. We seek unusual spaces where we can explore new relationships between the people involved in the live act of theatre. We believe in stories and telling them as a vital function of being human.
We believe that through experiencing internationally-influenced work, people can learn about their own increasingly culturally diverse society.
Founded in 2006, our past work includes Arts Council funded productions at leading London fringe venues and non-theatre spaces; various script-in-hand performances of new international theatre; collaborative performance laboratories to explore form and process. For more information, see PAST WORK.
2009 saw our sell-out production of Austrian play SHOOTING RATS in the epic Octagon Hall; see CURRENT for news on our 2010 shows, BLOWING and MOSHING LYING DOWN.
fanSHEN is a Registered Charity and a company limited by guarantee. Our Board of Directors comprises extensive experience in the law, accountancy, business, fundraising, the media and theatre administration.
